Behind every great studio is a team of passionate individuals who believe in something bigger than themselves. Today, we want to introduce you to the seven people who came together to make Hair Fall Studios a reality - their backgrounds, their motivations, and what they bring to our mission of creating better mobile games.
Our Origin Story
Hair Fall Studios didn't start with a business plan or a pitch deck. It started with seven developers who found each other through shared frustration, mutual respect, and a belief that mobile gaming deserved better than what it was getting.
Some of us met through online communities, others through previous projects or mutual friends. What brought us together wasn't geography or formal introductions, but a shared vision of what mobile gaming could become if developers put player experience first.
The Team
Ethan Vale
Co-Founder & Lead DeveloperEthan brings 4 years of mobile development experience and an obsession with smooth, responsive gameplay. Previously worked at a fintech startup where they learned to optimize for performance on lower-end devices - a skill that's proving invaluable for mobile game development.
Alex Corin
Co-Founder & UI/UX DesignerAlex's background in web design and user experience research gives them a unique perspective on mobile interfaces. They're passionate about creating intuitive touch controls and accessible design that works for players of all abilities.
Niko Calder
Game DesignerNiko is our systems thinker - the person who can take a fun mechanic and figure out how to build an entire game around it. With a background in tabletop game design, they bring a deep understanding of what makes gameplay loops satisfying and replayable.
Theo Winters
Visual ArtistTheo is responsible for making our games look as good as they feel to play. With a background in illustration and concept art, they're developing a visual style that's both distinctive and optimized for mobile screens.
Leo Hartman
Backend DeveloperLeo handles everything that happens behind the scenes - from player data management to potential multiplayer features. Their experience with cloud architecture ensures our games can scale as our community grows.
Lucas Venn
Product ManagerLucas keeps us focused on what matters most - creating value for our players. With experience in product management at both startups and larger companies, they help us balance ambition with practical execution.
Noah Riven
Community ManagerNoah is our connection to the world beyond our development bubble. They manage our community interactions, gather player feedback, and help us stay grounded in what our audience actually wants from our games.
Our Shared Values
While we each bring different skills and perspectives to the table, there are a few core beliefs that unite us as a team:
Player-First Thinking
Every decision we make starts with the question: "Is this better for the player?" Revenue, convenience, and personal preferences all come secondary to player experience.
Radical Transparency
We believe players deserve to know how their games are made, why certain decisions were made, and what we're working on next. No marketing speak, no corporate doublespeak.
Quality Over Speed
The mobile gaming market rewards speed to market, but we're more interested in creating games we'll be proud of five years from now than games that trend for five minutes.
Sustainable Development
Crunch culture and burnout are all too common in game development. We're committed to building a studio where people can do their best work without sacrificing their well-being.
Why Hair Fall Studios?
You might be wondering about our name. The truth is, it started as an inside joke during one of our late-night brainstorming sessions. Someone mentioned how stressful game development can be, another joked about pulling their hair out, and somehow "Hair Fall Studios" just stuck.
But the more we thought about it, the more it made sense. Game development is stressful - it pushes you to your limits, challenges your assumptions, and sometimes makes you want to pull your hair out. We decided to embrace that reality rather than pretend development is always smooth sailing.
The name reminds us that it's okay to struggle, it's okay to be challenged, and it's okay to admit when something is hard. What matters is how you handle the stress and whether you can create something worthwhile despite the difficulties.
Remote-First, Community-Focused
We're a fully remote team spread across different time zones, which brings both challenges and advantages. The challenges are obvious - coordination, communication, and building team culture without being in the same room.
The advantages are less obvious but equally important. Remote work forces us to be intentional about communication, to document our decisions clearly, and to create systems that work regardless of when or where someone is working. These skills make us better at working with our community too.
What We're Learning
Two weeks into this journey, we're already learning things about ourselves and about working together that we couldn't have anticipated:
Different Perspectives Make Everything Better
Having team members with different backgrounds means every decision gets challenged and improved. What seems obvious to a developer might not make sense to a designer, and that tension leads to better solutions.
Communication Is Everything
When you're building something complex with multiple people, the quality of your communication determines the quality of your product. We're spending as much time perfecting how we talk to each other as we are perfecting our code.
Passion Scales
Working with people who care as much as you do creates a positive feedback loop. Everyone's excitement and commitment lifts everyone else's energy and ambition.
Looking Forward
We're still early in our journey as a team and as a studio. We have a lot to learn, a lot to build, and undoubtedly a lot of mistakes to make and learn from. But we couldn't be more excited about the road ahead.
What excites us most isn't just the game we're building right now - it's the potential for what we can become. We want Hair Fall Studios to be the kind of studio we would want to support as players: transparent, player-focused, and genuinely passionate about creating great experiences.
